Licorice thrives in well-drained, sandy or loamy soils with a temperate climate. It is typically found in regions with moderate rainfall and is commonly cultivated in parts of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. It is grown from seeds in well-drained soil with ample sunlight. Plants are spaced 30-45 cm apart. Regular watering is needed, but overwatering should be avoided. It takes 2-3 years for the roots to mature for harvest. It is used for soothing sore throats, reducing coughs, treating ulcers, alleviating digestive issues, managing respiratory conditions like bronchitis, and supporting adrenal function. It also has anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and immune-boosting properties.
